Evolution and adoption of contributor role ontologies and taxonomies

Contributor Role Ontologies and Taxonomies (CROTs) are standard vocabularies to describe individual contributions a scholarly project or research output. Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) is one of the most widely used CROTs, has been adopted by numerous journals author's contributions, recently formalized as ANSI/NISO standard. Despite these developments, there still much work left be done improve how CROTs across different domains, output types, workflows. In this paper, we could extended include roles from various disciplines in an ethical inclusive manner. We explore potential approaches apply diverse objects disciplines; well envision their integration into workflows, such promotion tenure academic institutions. Lastly, discuss mechanisms for wide adoption use. While acknowledging that improving current systems attribution slow iterative process, believe engaging community evolution will ultimately enhance credit responsibilities publications.
